Art & Architecture
Art is integrated into the architecture of Villa Far Niente rather than simply displayed. Hand-created sculptural works by the architect Nikos Mourelos are embedded into the design, transforming functional elements into quiet artistic gestures. Art here is not separate from the house. It is lived.
Outdoor Living
At the center of the outdoor experience lies a 20-meter private lap pool, designed for both proper swimming and slow days in the sun. The pool uses a salt-chlorination system – no harsh chemicals, just cleaner, softer water. A shallow sun shelf offers a relaxed place for in-water lounging and for younger children to play under adult supervision, while a separate hydrotherapy jacuzzi creates a more restorative space. Pool and jacuzzi heating are available upon request.
Beside the pool, the shaded BBQ and outdoor dining area is designed for long, effortless meals. A small herb garden next to the outdoor kitchen offers fresh seasonal herbs that guests are welcome to use while cooking during their stay.
The Olive Grove
More than forty-five years ago, the owner planted many of these olive trees as a child.
Today they continue to define Villa Far Niente and produce the estate’s own early-harvest extra virgin olive oil, offered to our guests during their stay.

Villa Far Niente is located in Agia Pelagia, above the Bay of Lygaria, offering a rare balance of privacy and accessibility. Despite its secluded setting, Lygaria Beach and its waterfront tavernas are approximately a 10-minute walk from the villa, allowing guests to reach the sea and local dining without relying on a car. Agia Pelagia is a 5 minute by car, the Heraklion International Airport is 25 minutes, the port of Heraklion around 30 minutes and the archaeological site of Knossos approximately 35 minutes, all within easy reach.

Living Lightly
Villa Far Niente was designed to offer modern comfort with a lighter environmental footprint. A large 20 KWp photovoltaic array and 100 kWh battery system supply most of the home’s energy, significantly reducing reliance on the electrical grid while maintaining uninterrupted guest comfort. The reverse-osmosis filtered water, Mediterranean landscaping, and the estate’s own olive grove and herb garden reflect a thoughtful approach to living in harmony with the Cretan landscape.
